- Extremely Fast Installation
Absolutely the fastest installation and implementation of any full-featured ASO™ system available. Since no operating system modifications are required and no IPL is necessary, OPS/Master™ can be installed and operating in as little as two hours. Giving you almost instant access to dramatic improvements in data center operation.
- External Job Control
This critical capability monitors and controls external jobs, regulates external operator commands, tracks and posts non-CPU tasks and triggers jobs based on external activity. OPS/Master™ extends automation beyond the data center, linking the entire business processing environment through a single scheduling location.
- Menu-Driven Operation
Intuitively designed menus and prompted entry screens make OPS/Master components extremely easy to use. Special syntax languages are never necessary, and special user-implemented rules are not required. Learning times are minimized, effective operation is maximized, and return is quickly realized on your investment.
- Advanced Schedule Simulation
This important capability tests the accuracy of the job schedule. Once the job definitions have been entered into the database, the system will perform simulations to ensure runs will occur as desired. With this facility, entry or timing mistakes are caught before the jobs are run, resulting in significant savings.
- Automated Job Scheduling
Flexible scheduling facilities allow full automation of job scheduling for normal and special circumstances. Includes job sequencing controls, calendar based scheduling, key-word based scheduling, scheduling by system activity, resources and condition codes, control and monitoring of external jobs and operator commands, and unlimited scheduling calendars.
- Enhanced Problem Determination
Gives you the crucial ability to instantly discover and resolve job failures. Provides immediate failure notification, dynamic repair capability, job/step level condition code checking and automatic recover capability.
- Historical Data Collection
Provides the ability to collect historical data, significantly aiding the resolution of subsequent problems. Includes the ability to track jobs and save comments on previously processed events such as purges, jobs and other events.
- Reduced Manual Intervention
OPS/Master™ dramatically improves throughput and reduces potential errors. Includes: job set-up facility for defining each job and its attributes, job triggering and dependency validation, tracking and posting of non-CPU tasks.
- Automated Response
This important capability lets you assign console messages as requirements for job scheduling. For example, task or job-complete message can be posted to JOB/Master™ and used to trigger job-starts and other scheduling events.
- Standard System Interface
The system is TSO based, using standard ISPF interface, with support for JES2/3, MVS, zOS, and others.
- Integrated Event Processor
Provides integration of console operations with job schedules. Manual tasks can be posted between CONSOLE/Master™ and JOB/Master™, with activities automatically triggered at the appropriate times.
- Automated Console Command Processing
Saves significant time by automatically issuing console commands and replying to console messages. Includes: automates IPL (initial program load) and shutdown, the ability to issue MVS/JES console commands, a command/message database for automatic message reply, responses linked to job/date/time.
- Interactive Security Facility (ISF)
Offers critical security capabilities, allowing system administrators to define individual functions and authorize TSO users access to the functions. ISF works within OPS/Master components and executes in an MVS/TSO environment using ISPF dialogues to maintain the security database.
